From the sea to Fischmarkt
From the centuries Danzig had been connected to the sea. There were hudreds of fish boats on the beaches from Jelitkowo (Glettkau), through Brzezno (Brösen) and Stogi (Heubude) to Sobieszewo (Bohnsack). Two fish, Flunder and Pomuchel came even to the coins.

The most specific place in Danzig, place connected to the sea was Rybackie Pobrzeze (Fische Brücke), with the fish market. From year to year the number of fisher boats on the beaches is decreasing and the nets drying in the wind came to the history. You cannot buy fish on Rybackie Pobrzeze or on Targ Rybny. And you can see the everyday life of fishermen and tradeswomen only on old postcards and pictures.
